Who we are
A young, growing church with a clear mission: reaching Surprise, Arizona and beyond with the life-changing gospel of Jesus Christ!

OUR STORY
We didn't come here by accident.
Hillview Baptist Church launched on October 1, 2017 with a small group of people and a big belief that Surprise, Arizona needed a church rooted in the gospel and committed to its community.
We started meeting in an elementary school with nothing but faith, a few families, and a clear sense of calling. No building. No blueprint. Just a conviction that God had something for this city.
That was 2017. A lot has changed since then. God has grown this church beyond what we could have engineered on our own. New faces. New stories. New reasons to believe He's not done with Surprise yet. We've moved, we've expanded, and we've watched people take steps of faith that changed the direction of their lives.
We're still young. We're still growing. And we're still convinced that the best is ahead. Located in Northeast Surprise, Hillview exists to reach people across the entire West Valley with the life-changing truth of the gospel. Whether you've called Surprise home for decades or just signed your lease — there's something God is doing here, and you're invited to be part of it.
We love our God, our church, and our city. In that order.
OUR MISSION
Leading. Loving. Living.
01
Leading
Every person has the ability to influence someone else toward Christ. We don't wait for perfect people. We invest in willing ones.
02
Loving
Faith that stays inside the church walls isn't faith — it's comfort. We intentionally pursue relationships with the people in our city because that's what Jesus did.
03
Living
We ask one simple question in every decision: what would Jesus do if He were in our place? The answer to that question is how we want to live.

OUR PASTOR
Meet Tim & Rebecca Trieber
Tim and Rebecca Trieber have a singular passion: to reach Surprise and beyond with the gospel of Christ.
After graduating from Bible College in 2005, Tim served as Youth Pastor in Santa Clara, CA, investing nearly twelve years into the next generation. In 2016, Tim and Rebecca sensed a clear calling to plant a new church in the Phoenix metro area. In January 2017, they packed up their family and made Surprise home.
They didn't come for the desert sun. They came because people here need Jesus. And they're not going anywhere.
We believe in the verbal, plenary inspiration of the Holy Scriptures — the complete, inerrant, infallible, God-breathed Word of God. The sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments are the final authority for faith and life.
2 Timothy 3:16–17 · 2 Peter 1:20–21
We believe in one Triune God — eternally existing as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, co-eternal in being, co-identical in nature, co-equal in power and glory.
Deuteronomy 6:4 · Matthew 28:19
We believe Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man without ceasing to be God, born of a virgin, fully God and fully man. He accomplished our redemption through His death on the cross and His literal, physical resurrection.
Isaiah 7:14 · John 1:1–2, 14 · Romans 3:24–25
We believe the local church is made up of born-again believers. We recognize water baptism and the Lord's Supper as ordinances of obedience for the church.
1 Corinthians 12:12–14 · Matthew 28:19–20
We believe man was created in the image of God but fell through sin, inheriting a sinful nature and becoming alienated from God. All people are sinners by birth and by choice, unable to remedy their lost condition on their own.
Romans 3:22–23 · Ephesians 2:1–3
We believe in the personal, imminent return of Jesus Christ and His visible return to establish His earthly Kingdom. We believe in the bodily resurrection, the saved to eternal life, the unsaved to judgment.
1 Thessalonians 4:13–18 · Matthew 25:46
